Troy
R. Gorostiza Currently, Currently, Troy is the CTO and CLO of Virtual Acumen; a San Diego based e-Learning publishing company. He is responsible for assessing new and current learning models, as well as technology companies, to create the best possible solution for Virtual Acumen's clients. Already, in his first year and a half with Virtual Acumen, he has setup many Strategic Alliances with Technology Partners to create a "Virtual Value Chain", which the company's structure is based upon. He has also taken the current learning products and solutions and increased the quality and user interface through more effective and efficient processes, which many customers and industry experts have commented very positively upon. Troy Gorostiza is a learning and process evangelist with strong experience within the software and e-learning industries. He has successfully lead expert and technical teams in cross-functional projects and is well versed in project management, proposal writing, strategic design, engineering, development, and implementation of software applications on Client/Server or ASP Networks. Troy’s previous background includes five years of experience with two different web development and e-learning companies. At 3 Dog Multimedia, Inc. (San Jose, CA), he started out as an Instructional Designer, creating software training courses on various topics including HTML, DHTML, XML, Novell NetWare 5.0, Netscape Enterprise Server, and Gigabit Ethernet. He was responsible for analysis, content creation, programming, storyboarding and QA testing. He worked with and hired subject matter experts, certification reviewers and content mapping engineers to create courseware that was technically accurate. After Click2Learn (Bellevue, WA) acquired 3 Dog, Troy oversaw the Instructional Design, Graphics and Programming departments at the Santa Cruz office and was an integral part of a team responsible for landing major deals with Cisco, The Army National Guard, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. He created statements of work for new projects and was responsible for determining the pricing structure for each component of the total e-learning solution package. He simultaneously project managed multiple in-depth computer-based training projects (budgets above $200k-for distribution via CD and Web) to completion within budget and on time. In addition to his management skills, Troy is very comfortable technically with a variety of network architectures ranging from primarily Windows/NT-based to heterogeneous environments including Novell, NT, Macintosh and Unix to LMS, LCMS and CRM enterprise level solutions. Troy’s professional affiliations include the Project Management Institute (PMI), San Diego e-Learning SIG, North County e-Learning Group, and Pinnacle Group of San Diego. He’s also involved with the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), where he has given seminars on instructional design principles and applying ID theories to real-world applications at their quarterly meetings and also is currently serving as the chair of the SDSIC e-Learning group. Troy is currently working with various corporations and individuals in San Diego to create a new non-profit e-Learning organization geared to educate executives on what the subject of e-Learning is all about and the many disparate units to the complete solution. Troy was educated at California State University, Chico, where he received a BS degree in Instructional Design, with an emphasis in Computers and Multimedia Development. He graduated in the top 5% of his class and is currently working toward his MBA. In addition, he has taken many professional development seminars and classes within the e-Learning space. One of Troy’s most significant strengths is his complete and thorough understanding of the fragmented e-Learning space. He is extremely proficient on a majority of the Learning Management Systems, Knowledge Chain Management and Courseware development suites, and is involved with the standards based organizations driving the industry today (AICC, SCORM, XML, IEEE). |
